Welcome junior high students and families! I'm Mr. McFadden and I teach math, science, and religion to the junior high students. Click here for the syllabus to our class. This syllabus covers all of our classroom procedures and policies, as well as expectations for the students.
As for this academic year, we have a lot of material to cover. In religion, the 7th graders will be focusing on the life of Jesus and the establishment of the early Church. They will be reading much of the New Testament. In science, they will be introduced to topics in chemistry and physics that will prepare them for high school science. They will rely on inquiry and research-based learning to identify core principles of physical science. In math, they will continue to progress through the principles of numbers & operations, geometry algebra, measurement, data analysis, probability, and problem solving in order to prepare for high school level algebra.
The 8th graders will be studying the history of the Church, from the resurrection of Christ to the modern day. Along with this history, students will prepare to make their Confirmation at the end of the year. In science, students will be laying the foundation for high school biology. We will be studying everything from the cells that make up living organisms all the way to the ecosystems that are formed by these living organisms. Finally, math class will continue to build upon the principles touched on in 7th grade in order to prepare for high school algebra.
As the year goes on, I hope to keep family and friends updated on this site. If you ever need to reach me, please email me at nicholas.p.mcfadden@gmail.com. I look forward to meeting and working with you all and please let me know if there is anything that you need.
