Sabrina Lichon, sophomore at Benet Academy in Chicago, attended St. Ann School’s annual back to school bash, Reventón, in the fall. After her visit that day, Sabrina decided she wanted to do something more to help the school. So, she called the school’s development director, Frankie Beecroft, to schedule a meeting to learn more about the school’s needs. A few days after the meeting, she emailed Ms. Beecroft with the idea for Pennies for Plumbing. Sabrina decided that she would raise the $20,000 needed to bring functional waterlines, water fountains, and sinks to the upper three levels of St. Ann School. Sabrina has solicited friends and family for donations. She has even engaged her parents, both Chicago area doctors, in her efforts by asking them to keep donation boxes in their offices. With her goal almost obtained, the success and generosity of Sabrina’s story has been popping up all over the Chicago media. Sabrina’s story reminds us of the power of one person’s dreams and dedication. The hope is that her story will inspire others to follow in her footsteps of generosity. We have less than $3,000 to go.
