Sabrina Lichon, sophomore at Benet Academy in Chicago, attended St. Ann School’s annual back to school bash, Reventón, in the fall of 2009. After her visit that day, Sabrina decided she wanted to do something more to help the school. She called the school’s development director, Frankie Beecroft, to schedule a meeting to learn more about the school’s needs. A few days after the meeting, she emailed Ms. Beecroft with the idea for Pennies for Plumbing. Sabrina decided that she would raise the $20,000 needed to bring functional waterlines, water fountains, and sinks to the upper three levels of St. Ann School.
Having surpassed her goal, Sabrina has undertaken another project, Windows for Warmth, for the 2010-2011 school year. Sabrina is once again soaring towards her goal and has already raised more than half of the $24,000 needed to replace the windows in the 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms. Currently, these windows must be covered in plastic and taped shut to keep the cold drafts out. Sabrina has shown that with many people giving small donations, we can accomplish great things. Consider making a donation today to help make Windows for Warmth a success!
