Partnerships Saint Ann is truly blessed to be able to work with numerous organizations that enrich the overall experience for our students. University of Notre Dame Magnificat School
In 2006, Saint Ann was named as one of three Magnificat schools in
the country. Notre Dame Magnificat Schools are individual Catholic
schools that have partnered with the University of Notre Dame to support
and strengthen urban Catholic education. Through this partnership,
Notre Dame seeks to leverage a variety of resources to support the
Magnificat Schools in their efforts to improve academic achievement,
strengthen Catholic identity, build community, and stabilize leadership.
Saint Ann continues to deepen its relationship with the University of
Notre Dame as one of three Magnificat Schools in the country. The Notre
Dame Alumni Club of Chicago has leveraged its resources to organize
on-site service days. In February, over 25 ND alumni and friends of the
University lent a helping hand to take care of some much needed
cleaning, painting, and organizing. Big Brothers Big Sisters & UIC
Now in our second year, 25 of our students participate in the Big
Brothers Big Sisters program with students from the University of
Illinois-Chicago. As the only Catholic school in the Chicago area and
only school in Pilsen that is a BBBS site, we are grateful for the
benefits this program provides for our students. Our partnership is
mentioned in the article found here:
Big Brothers Big Sisters D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T. Programs
We are very thankful to have Chicago Police Officer Mary Jo Obrzut visit
our 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade classes every week to teach the D.A.R.E
(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance
Education and Training) Programs. These programs are more than just
drug and gang prevention education; they teach students good decision
making skills to help them avoid high-risk behavior to ensure they grow
up healthy, safe, and secure.

and sports programs through a grant from the The Jordan Family Sports
Foundation. To increase the safety of our gymnasium, we were able to
install wall padding on the north and south walls. We also installed an
electronic scoreboard and received sports equipment like basketballs,
soccer goals, and badminton sets. Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program
Saint Ann Catholic School has been awarded a grant to provide free
fresh fruit and vegetables to all students from January to May 2009. We
