Month of the Rosary

During the month of October, Saint Ann students studied and commemorated the rosary through various activities throughout the entire school. The religion classes focused on the significance of the prayers and discussed the rosary’s different mysteries. As a school community, we said a decade of the rosary each week after Mass. On the final Friday of the month, the entire school gathered to celebrate the Living Rosary. This began in the dark in our gymnasium. The middle school students represented a bead and arranged themselves in the shape of a rosary, each of them holding a candle. The service began with one of our 8th grade students introducing us to the first luminous mystery and then leading us in the Lord’s Prayer. When the Lord’s Prayer was finished, the first student in the rosary lit her candle. As we continued, the flame was passed from candle to candle, signifying a completed prayer. When we finished the entire Rosary, every student’s candle was lit. We illuminated the entire gym through the power of our prayer!
