Extended Day Offerings – St. Ann Extended Day Spring 2022-2023

This coming semester we will be offering a diverse array of clubs and activities after school. I hope you can find one or more clubs below for your child. Unless stated otherwise, the times for the clubs will all be 3:15-4:15 and will run for 10 weeks.
St. Ann Entrepreneur Club: In this club students will learn the basics of creating a business and get the chance to compete in the Big Shoulders Fund city wide entrepreneurship competition and earn grant money for St. Ann. Students will learn how to do a SWOT analysis, write a business plan, and create a business pitch. This club is led by Ms. Fox

Dancing with Class: Students will learn the basics of ballroom dance. Students will have the opportunity to learn the bachata, waltz, tango, and foxtrot. At the end of the club, students will perform at Gala de Mayo.

Chess Club: Students will develop their intellect through the royal game of chess! Current research shows a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas including mathematics and language arts. No previous knowledge of chess is necessary to join this club. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and gilded practice time. Experienced and beginner players are welcome to join!

St. Ann Newspaper Club: In this club students will work together to create a school newspaper. Students will learn how to write articles, take photographs, create comics and games for the school newspaper. This club will be led by Ms. Zavala and Ms. Muñoz.

Cooking Club: Students will learn the basics of cooking with Ms. Debbie and Ms. Darlene. Each week they’ll create and taste new recipes. If your child participated in the Cooking Club in the fall, they may not participate in the spring since we have such a high demand for this club.

Robotics Club: Students will learn the basics of building robots. Students will learn programming, electronics, and engineering to help them build functioning robots. This program will be led by Robot City Explorers. This program will happen on early release Wednesdays from 2:15-3:30. Program dates are 1/11, 1/25, 2/8, 2/22, 3/8, 3/22, 4/26, 5/10, and 5/24.

Girls who Code: Girls in 3rd-8th grade will learn the basics of coding. In this program students will learn about different types of coding and practice these skills with hands-on projects. Students will also learn about women in STEM and how to apply these new skills to possible future careers. This club is led by Ms. Levi and Ms. Reynolds.
