This year St. Ann has begun using an innovative reading program, Accelerated Reader, that helps students improve their reading comprehension. Students independently read a book within their reading level and then take a quiz over the book. Each book is worth a certain amount of points. The larger the book, the more points it is worth. Students have been given a summer reading points goal. During the summer, students will read books within their level and then take online quizzes. Students should NOT use their books while taking the quiz. Students are also given a goal of achieving an 85% average on their reading quizzes. Students who reach their point and quiz average goal will be rewarded with 3 dress down days in the 2016-2017 school year.
To take a quiz, students go to https://hosted405.renlearn.com/180725/default.aspx. A link to the website can be found at the bottom of this page. Once students have logged in, they click “Take a Quiz” which can be found on the right in the orange. Students type in the title of the book, find the correct one, and click “Take Quiz.” After students finish the quiz, they will see their percentage and how many points they earned.
To find the level of a book, students go to http://www.arbookfind.com. Once there, students type in the title of the book they want to read. Next to “BL” is the level of the book.
